Monday evening saw the latest in Wishful Drinking’s “Meet the Brewer Beer Tasting Events”, this time with our very good friends from just outside St Albans, 3Brewers.

Hosted by the eloquent Mark Fanner – 3Brewer supremo – the audience of around 20 enjoyed four very different brews.

Mark guided the enthusiastic, inquisitive and rather thirsty audience through the 3Brewers story, the unique aspects of their brewing process and the range of beers. There were several interesting interventions from the assembled to test Mark’s in-depth beer knowledge (and patience!!) with a variety of subjects raised ranging from potential collaborations with other brewers to Marks personal recommendation for the perfect pint!

But the real purpose of the event was to taste the beer and what a selection there was! Mark spoke with passion and deep knowledge about each beer… On keg Blonde a 4.2% golden ale featuring Mosaic hops and IPA at 4.6% a classic ale featuring five glorious hops and on cask the rare dark Mild 3.6% and a super smooth Porter at 5.2%.

Accompanied by a selection of finger foods and with six beers on tap and with six craft ciders in the cellar there was something for everyone’s taste.

Wishful Drinking will be holding regular Meet the Brewer Beer Tasting Evenings in the coming weeks with the current roster looking to include Tring Brewery, Marble, Popes Yard and Creative Juices.
